We hope your 2016 is off to a good start. We are looking forward to Winter Carnival in Saranac Lake - this year’s theme is Superheroes and Villains!
Since May of 2015, we have been fortunate enough to have a store-front presence at 47 Main Street in Saranac Lake’s historic Tousley Building, across from The Waterhole and between the Harrietstown Town Hall and the Blue Moon restaurant. In partnership with the Biodiversity Research Institute’s Adirondack Center for Loon Conservation, we are working toward sharing our storefront and expanding our office space starting this summer!
Our current office space at street level will become a gift shop and information center for the two projects, and there will be space for offices, interpretive displays and programs on the second floor. Look for more formal announcements in the near future, including a kickoff event for the retail/information center on Memorial Day Weekend!
We want your ideas!
Help us name the new nonprofit!
Help us with tag lines!
As we move our Adirondack Community-based Trails and Lodging System project forward, we need to incorporate and establish a nonprofit that will advance our vision of a hut-to-hut system in the Adirondacks.
But we need your help!
We have thrown around a lot of words, phrases, and ideas for the name of this new organization. But like throwing spaghetti at a wall, some ideas seem good and stick while others hit the floor. The bottom line line is that we need some help and are eager to hear your suggestions.
If you think you have good ideas for a name or tagline, please send them to us via email or via our Facebook Page by FEBRUARY 26. We will take your ideas, put them through an evaluation process and, with your help, come up with both a name and tagline.
Thanks in advance for your contributions! We will keep you posted!
Five Towns Hut-to-Hut Destination Trail System
Late last summer, we were asked by the NYS DEC to draft a conceptual plan for a hut-to-hut destination-based trail system for the “Five Towns” of Long Lake, Newcomb, Indian Lake, Minerva, and North Hudson. We completed the project in December, and there will be opportunities for public comment when this report becomes available to the public which we expect will be very soon.
Adirondack Community-based Trails and Lodging System
We have been busy developing the conceptual plan for a hut-to-hut destination-based trail system for the “Five Towns” but are just now getting back up to speed on the ACTLS project supported by the NYSDOS. We are completing the work plan and updating the public participation plan, and we hope to solicit people’s ideas on this project through public meetings this summer. You’ll be hearing from us as soon as we schedule our first meetings.
