What is the Adirondack Community-based                                    Trails & Lodging System?

How would you like to take a three- or four-day trek in the Adirondack Park without having to carry a tent, sleeping pad, stove or fuel?  Imagine being able to enjoy the woods, lakes, ponds, rivers, hills and mountains of the wild Adirondack backcountry while traveling lighter and staying overnight in comfortable frontcountry lodging (easily accessible by vehicles) and backcountry lodging (accessible only by water or by walking, biking, snowshoeing, or cross-country skiing).

Imagine being able to cook your own meals with friends old and new while staying dry, warm, and free of insects.  Imagine the possibility of having meals provided. All you’ll need is a well-stocked daypack, the willingness to travel under your own power and a sense of adventure.  Imagine spending a weekend, a week, or a lifetime exploring the Adirondacks in this way.

That’s what the Adirondack Community-based Trails and Lodging System is about.
By developing a trail system overnight accommodations the unique assets and amenities of the Adirondack Park can be leveraged to attract a global market of outdoor recreators and provide recreation opportunities that improve the quality of life for Adirondack residents.

We hope you will join us in planning a world class trail and lodging system.
